Organic Farming
About the Project
At Gazelle Impact, we believe that healthy, sustainable farming practices can transform communities and improve lives. Our Organic Farming Initiative is not just about growing crops; it’s about cultivating self-sufficiency, protecting the environment, and enhancing the well-being of local families.
Our Organic Farming Initiative, launched in 2021, is rooted in a commitment to promoting sustainable agricultural practices in rural Kenya. It’s an initiative driven by the belief that responsible farming can lead to greater food security and empower communities to thrive. The Initiative is more than just a source of food; it’s a source of empowerment. By promoting sustainable practices and educational opportunities, we’re contributing to the self-sufficiency of the community and fostering a sense of unity.
Highlights
Empowering Local Women: The initiative is led by a dedicated group of local women who have taken the lead in cultivating organic crops.
Sustainable Farming: We partner with interns from the Grow Biointensive Agricultural Center of Kenya (G-BIACK) to employ eco-friendly farming methods that promote soil health and minimize environmental impact.
Cultivating Cool-Weather Crops: Our focus is on growing cool-weather crops like cabbage, greens, kale, spinach, and chard, ensuring a steady food supply throughout the year.
Expanding Education: As our project has evolved, we’ve introduced cooking and nutrition lessons, enhancing the knowledge and skills of our community members.
